Re: Receipts

Hello, @FirstBookkeeper,

You can use the Sales Receipts feature in QuickBooks Desktop to print customer receipts for credit card charges. This feature will help send a receipt as a proof of his/her payment.

If you have an active QuickBooks Merchant account, a confirmation page displays once the payment is processed. You can then print or email the transaction.

You also have the option to access all payments and deposits on your online service account to view and download them. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Merchant account.
  2. Select Activity & Reports, then click All Statements from the drop-down menu.
  3. Locate the month you want to see and select either:

        * View to open the statement in your browser.
        * Download to save the statement on your computer as a PDF file.

You can also check this out to help track merchant transactions in QBDT: Record Merchant Service Deposits.

Hello there, @FirstBookkeeper

You can use a sales receipt if you received payment from your customer real-time.

This feature isn't only applies for sending a receipt to your customer. It will also process a credit card payment, and you can then receive the payment in the Make Deposits window. The screenshot below serves as your visual guide.

In case you want to run a report that shows your customer payments and deposits, you can use the Check Detail report. For more details, see the Customer payments and the invoices and deposits to which they are linked section through this article: Customize Customer, Job, and Sales Reports

Re: Receipts

Thank you! I was able to find the transaction and use Reports to print to PDF and then send the PDF. When processing a transaction, I normally use "Receive Payments," but is there a time when I should be using "Sales Receipts"? Does it work the same way-- meaning will it process a credit card payment, and/or receive a check that I can then find in the Make Deposits window? Or is the Sales Receipts function simply for sending a customer a receipt?
