I can help you fix the greyed-out option when importing accountant's changes, Babsy.

I can share a few reasons why the Import Accountant's Changes is greyed-out:

  • You are importing the changes to the wrong company file.
  • The Accountant's Copy restriction was removed.
  • The file with pending Accountant's Changes was upgraded to a new version or edition of QuickBooks Desktop.

Just ensure that you didn't upgrade your company file to a different version or edition of QuickBooks Desktop while the accountant is still making some changes. If you've upgraded to a different version you can restore a backup copy of your company file prior to the upgrade.

To help you through importing your accountant's changes, you can follow through the detailed steps on this link: Resolve errors and unexpected results when importing accountant's changes.

You can use these pages for more information about the Account's Copy workflow:

Let me know how this works. Take care and stay safe!

Thank you for instructions.  I went to a previous backup and was able to see that this was marked pending accountants changes (it was a file dated from February)  however when I went to download the CPA changes from the web, it was saying to insure that my accountant was using the correct Company file.  Any other suggestions?

Hi @Babsy,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Since you already went through the steps provided by my colleague @Catherine_B above and still have the same issue, I suggest you contact our Technical Support team at this point. They can investigate why you keep having this error message pop up.

See this article for the steps: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support. Take note of our Technical Support team's hour of operation, so you know when they're available.

In case you encounter the same issue in the future, you can refer to this article: Resolve errors and unexpected results when importing accountant's changes. It provides several scenarios where you're unable to import the Accountant's Changes to your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file, along with the steps to resolve it.

Let me know in the comments below if you have other questions about the process of applying the Accountant's Changes, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
