Reconciling business credit card payment from personal account

Welcome to the Community, @33BGC33.

The proper way to record transactions affecting your personal and business accounts is to make a journal entry. Following these steps will allow you to record a business expense that was funded by personal funds:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Journal Entry.
  3. Choose the expense account for the purchase on the first line.
  4. In the Debits column, enter the purchase amount.
  5. Select Partner's equity or Owner's equity on the second line.
  6. Enter the same purchase amount in the Credits column.
  7. Select Save and close.

You may read this article for more details: Pay for business expenses with personal funds.

Once everything's good, you can begin the reconciliation process. Here's how:

  1. Reconcile can be found under Settings in QuickBooks Online. Select Get started to proceed if this is your first time reconciling.
  2. Choose the account you want to reconcile from the Account ▼ dropdown.
  3. Review the Beginning balance. Make sure the beginning balance in QuickBooks matches the one on your statement. Here's what to do if they don't match.
  4. Enter the Ending balance and Ending date.
  5. Review the Last statement ending date. This is the end date of your last reconciliation.
  6. Select Start reconciling.

Reconciling business credit card payment from personal account

I am pretty good at Quickbooks until I make a mistake and then I am clueless. From my interpretation of your answer, it would seem that the credit card would not be able to be reconciled. It would show no payment in Quickbooks but one payment would show and reflect on the credit card statement balance. Am I interpreting this correctly? Thanks again!!
