Record Repairs/Maintenance on Company Trucks

I want to start recording repairs/maintenance done on our Company Trucks. Just so that we have a record of how much money/expense is being put in some of our Company Trucks. Any suggestions/ideas are welcome.

Record Repairs/Maintenance on Company Trucks

One way is to use Class Tracking and to assign each truck as a Class - you can even group them all as sub-classes of a parent class. Then when you record expenses be sure to assign by class. Class Tracking is turned on in Edit>Preferences

Your categories are causing me problems and I can't get an answer online.  I have Quickbooks Self employed.  The categories for vehicle expenses are "Vehicle Repairs", "Other Vehicle Repairs", and "Repairs and Maintenance".  There is no category for Vehicle Expenses.  I don't know where to enter things like oil filters, tires, and other minor parts needed for maintenance.  Do tires go in "Other Vehicle Repairs"?  It seems to me they are an expense, but there is no category for Car and Truck Expense.

Record Repairs/Maintenance on Company Trucks

Hi @Maxm1,

A few months ago, several QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) categories have been renamed. One of them, which is Car & Truck, has been changed to Other vehicle expenses.

For those things you mentioned for car maintenance (oil filters, tires, other minor parts), you can select the Vehicle repairs category.

Learn more about the available categories in QBSE by viewing this article: Categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed. It lists a whole lot of categories, from their previous names, along with their new ones.

I'll be around in case you need further help. Drop me a comment below, and I'll get back to you.
