We recently upgraded to desktop QB Enterprise Solutions 22. We have an up to date server with 6 remote computers attached. When we upgraded to 22 we noticed the To Do Notes in the reminders could not be added, deleted or changed when operating from the remote workstations. Oddly, when we accessed QB on our server, we were able to modify. There is no error message, just a message saying cannot be saved. We also notice that in the customer and vendor accounts, we could not modify the contact person unless doing so on the server QB. QB support had us upgrade to QB 23, but we still have the same issue. Been using QB since 2000 and this has never happened with an upgrade.
QB support has been no help in resolving this issue, so I am coming to the forum to see if this has recently happened to anyone else.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, @DrewSteck.
I want to share insight and provide guidelines for resolving your concerns about being unable to save To Do Notes and edit Vendor/Customer contact names in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Also, you're making a good step in updating your company file. It's the first step to fixing the system's unexpected behavior.
We usually see this when there is another program conflicting with QuickBooks. One that we know of is Microsoft SQL Server. Other users have had success uninstalling it to fix this. You can check to see if the app is installed. If you do, I suggest consulting whoever maintains your computers to determine if removing the server is the right option.
Once determined, you'll want to temporarily uninstall Microsoft SQL if you don't want to use another computer. Then, install it later after setting up the To Do the task and edit your Vendor and Customer contact names.
Afterward, you can proceed to the steps below on creating a To-Do task:
Then, you can refer to this article for additional information when changing vendor and customer names in QBDT: Change vendor, customer or employee name type.
However, if the issue persists, it would be best to contact our Technical Support Team again. This way, they can double-check why the particular behavior is occurring and initiate a further investigation if necessary. Please also inform them of the steps you have taken before reaching back to them.
You can follow the steps below on how to reach them:
Here's the contact QuickBooks Desktop support article for more information about this.

We had been in touch with the support at QB. They could not explain so it was supposed to be bumped up to your QB T3 area. We were getting voicemails from them in the middle of the night, so obviously they were not calling from the US. QB claims we cannot have a scheduled appointment with them, which makes no sense. We are a business and need to hear from QB during reasonable business hours.
I am trying to figure out if our remote access only problem with the notes and vendors is something else that others have experienced the exact same thing after loading QB 22 or 23
We had QB support access our computer for hours
and they could not figure it out. We were supposed to hear from the higher level T2 or T3 but they were leaving voicemails in the middle of the night. Obviously they were calling from outside of the US. We were told we could not schedule a specific time with them, which makes no sense. We need to speak with someone during reasonable business hours. I am reaching out to see if anyone else has complained about loading QB 22 or 23 and having the exact same problems with their remote computers.
I appreciate you for getting back, DrewSteck. I understand this can be a challenging situation for you while working with your To Do Notes in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Let me make it up to you by sharing additional troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.
This issue has been seen on computers with Microsoft SQL installed. If you have this application, uninstall it temporarily as suggested by RoseJillB above. If not, I recommend repairing your company file using the Rebuild Data tool. Damaged data within your QBDT file may also affect this behavior.
If QuickBooks doesn't find any problems, tap OK and proceed to Rebuild Now if you see issues.
Additionally, you may also fix your file using the QuickBooks File Doctor.
On the other hand, our QBDT Support Team is open M-F from 6 AM to 6 PM. You can contact them during these hours to get the right support you need.
Please feel free to mention my name in the comment section below if you have follow-up questions about your reminders or to do tasks. I'm always here to help. Keep safe!
