Join nowI have a client that has been using QB for Mac 2015 due to OS limitations. The file was cloned from the previous owner and there are a lot of unneeded COA accounts and the items list has maxed. There are about 40 open invoices from 2021.
We would like to split off the old data and move to a newer version of QB for Mac. How can prior years be split off?
Thank you in advance for any assistance. It will be greatly appreciated!
Hi PASS007!
Thanks for reaching out to us. Allow me to assist you in setting up your company file.
If you wish to erase the previous year's data, the best solution I can offer is to create a new company file. This is to ensure that when you delete the old data, the file does not get cluttered.
Here's how to create a new file:
Then, you can simply enter the historical info into the new file by importing them. Check this article for your reference: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, I included this link if you need help in reconciling your accounts: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
We're always available if you require further support. Thanks!
You can utilize the trial version for QBD 2021 to split the file.

Then your client may consider to purchase the one time license of QBD 2021 or prefer to use QBD Mac Plus.
