Restore from backup QB 2019 desktop

Trying to restore from a recent backup but the DMG file is "grayed out" when I browse and it will not let me select it.  What do I need to do?

Restore from backup QB 2019 desktop

Let me guide you on how to restore your company file in QuickBooks Desktop trial version, DavidSpadola.

When creating a backup, QuickBooks for Mac creates a DMG file. This file contains a copy of your company file and other documents you saved in your software.

It's possible the .DMG file you're trying to open doesn't contain any data. Let's make sure we choose the correct one for you to restore it in QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Preferences.
  2. Select Backup.
  3. Choose Reveal Backup Folder and double-click the folder where you save your backup files.
  4. Click the Date Modified option to sort by date and see your most recent backup.

Once done, follow steps in Step 2: Restore your backup company file section in this article: Restore your backup company files for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

For more details about restoring your file, check out the Restore your article.
