Sales Tax Question etc.

I have a few questions.

1.  I have had a sales tax rate set as a default yet when I open a new invoice the sales tax rate window is always blank, why?

2.  I thought I could fix the issue above by making the sales take rate based on location, but I don't know to enable that feature.

3.  Then I thought if I could switch to the new sales tax window that would help. But again, that option is not available, why?

4.  Finally, & not related, can I toggle between sales tax & discount on an invoice on my mobile device?

Sales Tax Question etc.

Hello there, Tiffiny Taylor Krugh.

I can share information about the automated sales tax.

The system rolled out in switching from the manual to automated sales tax which automatically calculates based on the following:

  • Your customer's tax-exempt status
  • Where you sell and where you ship
  • What you sell

The option to set a sales tax as default is unavailable in the new Sales Tax Center. However, you can set a default tax info for your customers. Whenever you create an invoice and select the customer, the sales tax field will populate the default setup you selected.

Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Sales menu and select Customers.
  2. Look and select for the first customer to update.
  3. At the upper-right, click Edit.
  4. Select the Tax info tab and from the drop-down, select a default rate or Based on location.
  5. Click Save.

When you toggle the Sales Tax and Discount field on the invoice page, you'll want to do it through a browser. You can use this article for more details on what you can do using the app and browser: Compare mobile app features.

Just let me know if there's anything else you need help with managing your new sales tax setup. Take care!
