Search by Memo shows no results

Searching by "Memo" is yielding no results. For troubleshooting purposes I created a dummy check transaction dated 12/11/19 with the word "hello" in the the memo of the check and the split. Performing a search does not find this transaction. I'm befuddled. Anyone have any ideas? Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2017, all current updates. Thanks.

Thanks for keeping us posted, CustomDecks.

The steps shared by my colleague above are used to fix issues with the Advance filter. Since you're still experiencing the same thing after trying out the steps above, I'd recommend contacting our QuckBooks Care Support. They have the extra tools that can help conduct a thorough investigation to come up with a fix.

Here's how you can reach us:

  1. Click Help at the top menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question? window, enter a topic.
  3. Click Contact us.
  4. Hit the Get a callback button.

I'd appreciate if you'd let me know how the call goes. I want to make sure everything's working fine. If you have questions, let me know. Wish you all the best.

Search by Memo shows no results

Thanks for the initial troubleshooting, CustomDecks.

Let's do this step-by-step. We probably added an extra filter or step that result no transactions are showing up. Please follow:

  1. Let's close the Find window to reset the filters.
  2. Press Ctrl + F on your keyboard, and select Advanced.
  3. Click on the Reset button to remove the default filters (like the Date, Memo, Posting Status, Transaction Type).
  4. In the FILTER option, select Memo
  5. Enter the description in the field and click on Find.

QuickBooks was able to display all possible transactions with the relevant description in the Memo field. Please see the sample screenshot below.

If it still showing no result, we can run the Verify and Rebuild tool. By running it, it fixes minor damage components resulting to this issue.

Let us know if you've got any questions in finding the transactions.

Search by Memo shows no results

I reset the search fields, and ran the search again. Zero results. I did a verify and rebuild (did find a couple errors, see attached) and ran search again. At first I had zero results, but then a minute later results were showing up as they should. I closed the program and logged back in, and am now back to zero results in a memo search. All other search criteria appears to be working fine. Not sure where to go from here. I've done this search a thousand times before, not sure when it lost this functionality.

No luck on the reset. Did a rebuild and did not seem to work at first, but then a minute later I had search results. I closed the program and logged back in, and now back to zero search results. I've done this search a thousand times before. Not sure when this problem started. All other search functionality appears to be working fine.
