Shortcut to the Search Box

I use the "search box" a lot, to narrow things down when I'm searching for a customer, vendor, or item.  Is there a shortcut I could use so that I don't have to use the mouse to go to the search box?

(Note that I am not referring to using the "Find" function with cmd F.)

I presently use QB 2015, but I'll likely be updating to 2019 soon.

Thanks so much!!

Shortcut to the Search Box

Welcome and thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community page, @lywells.

I'm here to share some information about shortcuts in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Keyboard shortcuts are a great way to get to commands faster and enter data more easily and efficiently. With most software programs, I tend to look for keyboard shortcuts to speed things up, and QuickBooks is no exception. If you're not currently using keyboard shortcuts or are only using a few of them, I think you'll find some of these will really enhance your date entry experience.

Shortcut to the Search Box

Thanks so much for trying to help.

Actually, I've seen the shortcut grid online before, but what I was actually looking for is a way to quickly and easily go to a search bar when wanting to reference a certain customer or vendor.

I have a fair number of customers and vendors and I use that box a LOT, to narrow down which ones show up in my Customer/Job Center List or Vendor Center List.

There has got to be an easier way rather than always having to use my mouse to go to the search bar on the top of those lists.

Thanks for any ideas.

Shortcut to the Search Box

Greetings, lywells.

Allow me to take over and provide you with some information about keyboard shortcuts in QuickBooks for Mac.

Searching for customers and vendors without using the search bar isn't currently offered in QuickBooks for Mac. I can definitely see how this feature would be useful. As a team with a massive roadmap, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible.

I would highly recommend submitting feedback and suggestions regarding this option to our product developer. Here's how:

  1. Choose QuickBooks
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. On the Preferences pane, select Feedback.
  4. Click the Enable sending usage data to Intuit checkbox. The preference is enabled by default.

Thanks for being a part of the QuickBooks family. Feel free to post again here in the Community if you have any other concerns.
