Sometimes I have to pay a business bill with a personal credit card, where I've entered the bill in QB - how to make the bill paid? thx

I want to adjust owner's equity to show how the bill was paid, but can't see a way to mark it paid other than with my business bank account or business CC. Thanks

I appreciate the details you've included in your post, Phil.

Let me assist you with this and provide some ways to help you make the bill paid in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

Firstly, you have to create a Journal Entry. With this, it debits the accounts payable and credits the owner's equity account.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigational panel, look for the + New button.
  2. Select Journal Entry.
  3. On the first line, choose the expense account for the purchase.
  4. Enter the purchase amount in the Debits column.
  5. Choose the Partner's equity or Owner's equity on the second line.
  6. Enter the same purchase amount in the Credits column.
  7. Hit Save and Close.

Once done, you can create Pay bills to link it to your newly created journal entry. Doing this will reduce the total payables in your account.

You can follow these steps:

  1. Look for the + New button.
  2. Select Pay bills.
  3. Choose the bill you need to link to your journal entry.
  4. Click Save and close.

You can also seek assistance from your accountant to ensure the proper recording of what accounts to use. If you don't have one, you can use our Find-an-Accountant tool to look for an expert near you.

Additionally, I've added an article you can browse in case you need assistance handling bills to be paid later and bills to be paid immediately using bills, checks, or expenses for future reference: Learn the difference between bills, checks, and expenses in QuickBooks Online

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns about bills in QuickBooks Online. Take care and have a good one.

@phil-hartleysoun

I would recommend to use Melio to pay your personal credit card from your bank account as the business reimbursement and integrate it with QBO. Click on my profile name and you can find the cashback link to get $100.
