I've used QB Desktop to keep my household checking account for some time.  Rather than fix several irregularities that I've created over time, can I just start over with a new QB account?  If so, how do I go about doing that?

We can create a new file, jlaufenb.

With the new company file, we can start entering new data. We can either do it in the Home page or on the No Company Open page:

In the Home page:

  1. Click the File menu, and then select New Company.
  2. Click Express Start.
  3. Enter your Business NameIndustryBusiness Type, and other details.
  4. Select Create Company.

Through the No Company Open screen:

  1. Select Create a new company folder.
  2. Click Express Start.
  3. Enter the necessary details.
  4. Select Create Company.

Then when selecting a company to open, just click the company's name and then select Open.

Feel free to get back to me if there's anything that I can help you with. Stay safe!

As additional options, should you need to migrate data from old file to new one, utilize the trial period of these 3rd party migration tools.
