Starting Over with set up in QuickBookd Desktop

I began entering data from Peachtree 2007 into QuickBooks Desktop 2019. Between the bank feed, liability checks coming in as checks, general journal entries, and manual and Intuit Enhanced payroll entries, many mistakes were made.

How do I start over?

Re: Starting Over with set up in QuickBookd Desktop

Hello JacWhit,

Thank for posting detailed information here in the Community. I can help provide information about converting Peachtree data to QuickBooks Desktop.

When converting your data from Peachtree, there are transactions that our tool is unable to import. Paychecks showing as journal entries are one of the examples of the import limitation.

If there existing transactions on your company file mixed up with the data from Peachtree, I recommend correcting them manually within the program. You can perform adjustments using the Journal Entry feature with the help of an accountant to ensure your books will be correct.

For the complete list of what you can't convert, check out this article:

Converting from Sage 50 using the Conversion Tool.

If you want to start over with the migrating process again, I recommend creating a new company file. However, please secure a backup copy of your data from QuickBooks.

To know more on how you can start a new file, I'm also adding the article on this:

Create QuickBooks Desktop company file: Overview.

Feel free to get back to me if you have any additional questions about syncing data from Peachtree. I'll keep an eye on your response.

I did use the conversion tool, which I think would have made things even worse.

That being said, I will need to ask the accountant if it is easier to start with a new company or make many journal entries. I began using Enhance Payroll, so was unable to run Utilities > Company Clean Up. I really do not want to have to re-enter my vendors, customers, employees, etc..

Thanks for your help.

Re: Starting Over with set up in QuickBookd Desktop

Hello again, JacWhit.

Thanks for getting back to me here in the Community. Let me continue to provide a helping hand with regards to the conversion process from Peachtree.

I understand the importance of making the adjustments and getting rid of re-entering the name lists all over in QuickBooks Desktop. In addition to my post above, I also want to share a support article about exporting and importing data into our program:

Please know I'm always available anytime you have questions or concerns about your Peachtree data. Wishing you all the best.
