Stop quickbooks desktop 2019 enterprise from automatically adding shortcut to all users' desktops on Terminal Server

I have quickbooks desktop enterprise on a terminal server (rdp); quickbooks places the quickbooks shortcut icon on every user desktop; I noted that it's in the c:\users\public folder; if I try to delete the icon from there, it states that it will delete the quickbooks executable from the program files folder. The same thing happens if I try to remove the quickbooks icon from my user's account on the terminal server. How can I remove the icon from automatically being added to all users' windows desktop? Only 3 out of 120 people need it, those 3 people can add it manually, the rest don't want it adding to their windows desktop.

Hi there, wzkds.

If you want to give access to these three users, and they don't want to see the icon, you can let them hide it.

We can remove the permission to these three users if you they don't access and use QuickBooks. Let me show you the easy steps:

  1. Go to your QuickBooks file location.
  2. Right-click on the application and choose Properties
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. You can add or edit the group or user names
  5. Make sure to enter the windows account or user names of the three users.
  6. Select the permissions you'll want to give to them.
  7. Once done click OK
