I can walk you through how to update the address, @useralania.

You can edit your company info when you prepare 1099. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to Payroll and pick Contractors.
  2. Choose Prepare 1099s.
  3. Select Continue your 1099s.
  4. Click the Back button until you've reached Step 1 Company.
  5. In the Review your company info section, make sure you have the updated company address.
  6. Tap Next until Finish.

Thanks for this, but that was not the problem.  I am reporting a bug.  The address where you are reporting to confirm was correct, I confirmed it multiple times.  Finally, after eFiling with the INCORRECT address, I figured out the only way to get to Intuit account info that showed incorrect primary user and business address information.  All information in the Quickbooks account was correct prior to creating the 1099s (it was updated after we moved in June 2021).  I'm not sure why a user would confirm an address that would then not be the one actually used on the 1099 creation, which is why a bug should be filed with development.

Now I need to know how to file a correction with the corrected address.

Thank you.

Thanks for getting back to us, useralania.

At this time, QuickBooks Online only allows you to file your 1099 once. However, any updates or corrections can be made in a printed copy and sent in by mail to the IRS.

Here's how to file the amended form:

  1. Order 1099-NEC IRS forms online at IRS Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns or over the phone at 800-829-3676.
  2. Fill out the 1099-NEC form and be sure to select the Corrected checkbox.
  3. Once done, mail the form to the IRS.
  4. After that, mail the recipient copy to your contractor as soon as possible so that they can file their taxes.

Please refer to the IRS general Instructions for Certain Information Returns for the information you'll need to prepare. Additionally, you can visit this link for more details about this process: How to correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.

In case you need help with printing your 1099s, here's an article for your reference: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online. On the same link, you'll find the steps on how to E-file your forms as well as a guide on how to check the filing status.
