Join nowHello, all
I've recently freshly installed QB Desktop 2017 Pro and restored my company files from backup.
I've noticed that the Insights tab is no longer displaying any data. The "loading" status just stays in the top right hand corner, with no data being displayed or updating.
I've attached a screenshot of the loading status.
Any help to resolve this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing a screenshot of the Insights tab, deant7.
Please know that QuickBooks 2017 is already an unsupported version. This means that some of the features, especially add-on services will no longer work. You can see more details about this here: QuickBooks Desktop Service Discontinuation Policy And Upgrade Information.
Although, you can repair your QuickBooks software. This process can resolve some of the most common errors when working in the software. Here's how:
Note: If you're using Windows 8 or 8.1, search "Control Panel" in the Windows Start menu.
Note: If you don't see Programs and Features, select Programs instead. Then select Program and Features.
Note: The repair should start right away, but it may take a while to finish. You can leave it running, and come back once it's done.
Once done, open your company file once again to check if you can already see the data in the Insights tab. Here's an article about this process for more details: Repair Your QuickBooks Desktop For Windows.

Hi JenoP
Thanks so much for your reply.
I've attempted the repair as per your instructions but the repair is giving me errors. This is also a relatively new Windows installation, so I'm not sure why I'm seeing this. If I ignore it the repair eventually stops with an error in updating that .tmp file.
Hello there, @deant7.
I appreciate you for providing a screenshot and attempting to repair QuickBooks software.
To fix the error, we can run the Clean Install Tool. It will automatically rename your old folders and allows QuickBooks to add new files when you reinstall.
Here's how:
Once done, you're now ready to reinstall QuickBooks 2017.
If you wish to rename your QuickBooks Desktop folder manually, kindly refer to the clean install QuickBooks Desktop article in the Manually rename the QuickBooks Desktop installation folders drop-down section for the detailed steps.
If the issue persists, we can uninstall QuickBooks and manually rename the installation folders. For the steps, you check this link under Solution 2: Manually rename the installation folders.
Also, I encourage checking our Help articles page to learn some tips and tricks in managing your QBO account. From there, you can read great articles that can guide you through the steps by steps process.

Hi @Maybelle_S
Thanks for helping out. I've tried the suggested clean install methods except for the method using the QB Tool Hub. I did not have an option for clean install with the tool (screenshot of window attached).
I've decided to just do without the insights tab working.
Have a good day further!
Stay safe
Thanks for getting back in here, @deant7.
I appreciate you following the steps given by my colleague. I want to know if the clean install method except for the QuickBooks Tool Hub resolves your issue.
If you're still having the same issue, we can perform another clean install method to fix this. You can check this article for the full details: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.
Meanwhile, I'll be adding this Community resource if you've got other QuickBooks concerns such as setting up payments, managing your income and expenses, running reports, etc. Please refer to this article for more details: Community help articles.
Feel at ease to let me know if you have other queries. I'll be happy to help you. Have a prosperous day.
Hey @Rubielyn_J
I appreciate the suggestion. I have already performed that method of clean install as well, but unfortunately it has not resolved my issue. As mentioned, I will continue as is without the insights tab. It's not a major issue that's affecting the functionality of the program.

Thank you!
I am also having this problem as well. When I click on the 'insights' tab, nothing shows, I click the refresh button, and still nothing shows. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. The thing is, sometimes is DOES work - and when it does it's amazing! Is there a feed issue? This is extremely useful information that I would love to have at my fingertips - why does it not work?
Good morning, @NET2019.
It's great to see you back in the Community, and thanks for joining in on this thread. I hate that you're having the same issue with the "Insights" tab. I want to ensure that you're able to get back on track.
If you've already tried all the troubleshooting steps that my colleagues provided above, then I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll be able to use a screen share to look further into your account and see what's causing this to occur. Here's how:
It's that easy.
Let me know how the phone call goes. It's my priority that you're able to get back to running your business. I'm only a few clicks away if you need me. Enjoy the rest of your day!
