Join nowHi,
I was wondering if it is possible to transfer my Windows QB Pro 2010 company file to QB for Mac Desktop 2021. If so, is it a simple procedure or will it take many steps? Thank you in advance for your answers.
Cheers,
Renee
Hello there, @renedaisyc.
QuickBooks Pro 2010 is no longer supported and can no longer be updated. Because of this, we're unable to convert your data file over to QuickBooks for Mac since this process requires the latest maintenance release.
That said, you can install a trial version of QuickBooks Pro 2021 to Windows. Then, restore a backup copy of your company file before converting it to Mac. Download the trial here: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop.
Once done, follow these steps on how to move your data:
In case you're unable to install the trial version on your Windows computer, I suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They can help you get your file ready for conversion. Here's how:
Also, please take note that certain features and types of data that won't be converted. Here are the complete list and details on the migration process: Convert a QuickBooks for Windows file to QuickBooks for Mac.
Keep me posted if there's anything else you need help. I'll keep my notifications open. Have a great day, @renedaisyc!
You may have have 2 options:
1. Install the trial license of QBD (Windows) 2015, 2019 and 2021 to upgrade your QBD 2010 file prior to migrating it to QBD Mac 2021. We may share the trial license of them if required.
2. Purchase a 3rd party conversion service.

Thank you for joining this thread, janechang.
Yes, you need to upgrade to the newest version as we no longer support 2010. And, there are some features from the old file that may not work on the latest version.
You can visit this link to know the specifications, cost, and how to update:
On the other hand, you can contact our QuickBooks Desktop Team so they can do screen-sharing with you. And, help move the data in a secure environment.
The steps provided by Jovychris_A in this thread will also walk you through the steps on how to manually transfer the data.
Additionally, please consider checking out the system requirements needed to run the latest version of QuickBooks.
