Unable to connect Gmail to send forms

I am using QB Pro 2020.  I have been trying to connect my business' Gmail account to send forms but I am unable to do so.  I have verified that my password is correct.  I have updated to the most recent releases.  I am connected to the internet.  I have clicked "Web Mail" in Send Forms Preferences.

I am at a loss about what to do next.  Any thoughts?

Unable to connect Gmail to send forms

Thanks for sharing the details with us, @RockyCat.

You'll want to edit your email information and set the server name and port to your email provider. Here's how.

In your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT):

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. Select Send Forms.
  3. Under the My Preferences tab, select your Gmail account and click Edit.
  4. Go to the SMTP Server Details section in the Edit Email Info screen.

For more details and additional steps, here's an article you can read for reference: Fix Error: Could not connect to the email server. Once done, send a test invoice to your email.

I've also added this article for additional reference in connecting your email to QBDT: Connect your email to QuickBooks Desktop.

You might also want to check this article in case you want to customize your invoices: Use and customize form templates.

Should you need more help in setting up your email in QBDT, you can always leave a comment below. That way, we can address it as soon as possible. Take care and have a great day!

Unable to connect Gmail to send forms

The only one of those suggestions I had not previously tried was looking up the ISP and port information.  The linked list does not include AT&T, my ISP as confirmed by an independent check.  The default fill-in for the server details is smtp.gmail.com and port 587.  Gmail is also not listed in the linked article so I cannot confirm if those details are correct.

Unable to connect Gmail to send forms

It looks like AT&T is no longer supported based on the list of ISPs in the article, RockyCat.

You'll want to use other domain or provider when sending transactions from QuickBooks.

Gmail is also not part of the list in the linked article because it has a default Server Name and Port. I would recommend reaching out to our phone support if can't still connect your Gmail account. Here's how:

  1. Go the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Let them know that you're not able to add your Gmail account in QuickBooks.
  4. Click Continue, then select if you want to schedule a callback.
