Uploading a full version of Quickbooks

I have drop boxed a back up of my company files for my accountant and they can't seem to open the files that I sent them.  They want me to upload a full version of my Quickbooks to their website, I have no idea how to do that can someone help me out with a step by step for this?

Uploading a full version of Quickbooks

Hey there, @missymarykay55.

I've got all the steps you'll need to make sure you can send them an Accountant's copy. This way, they can make changes without interrupting your work. Once your accountant is done, they can simply import the changes and update the book.

The way this works is that:

  1. You send your accountant a QBX file (Accountant’s copy).
  2. They import it with their Accountant’s version into a QBA file, in which they make their changes.
  3. They create a QBY file and send it back to you.

Before you start, if you use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, turn off any Advanced Inventory features. Once you send it, you can turn it on again. However, if you're using QBDT Pro and Premier, you can skip this step.

Then, there are two ways to get an accountant's copy to your accountant. You can make a file to put on a USB or in online hosting service. You can also use the Accountant's copy File Transfer Service to send a file through the web. For the detailed steps, proceed to Step 2 in this article: Create an Accountant's Copy.

Once you've sent the copy, QuickBooks will add an Accountant Changes Pending reminder to your company file name. Moreover, it will restrict few activities. This way, you can avoid conflicting with the modifications made by your accountant.

The message stays until you get the file back and import your accountant's changes, or until you remove the Accountant's Copy restriction.

Please come back and let me know about your results in managing an Accountant's copy in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.
