You can usually fix this error by re-sorting your names list:

1. Open a Check form.

2. Click in the Pay to the Order of field and press Ctrl-L to open the Name List, which displays all types of names (Customer, Vendor, Employee, and Other Names.)

3. At the bottom of the list, click the Name button and then pick Re-sort List.

4. After re-sorting, close and re-open the company file.

5. Verify the file again and see if the error is resolved.
