"Waterfall" view of Assembly BOM

The discussion you've shared in your post, you're correct. Currently, QuickBooks Desktop doesn't offer this feature just yet. As mentioned by my colleague in that thread, we have submitted a feedback request, so this could be considered in a future update. You can, however, follow our latest happenings and updates using our Blog Site. 

On the other hand, you can review your BOM by editing the Build Assembly that's within your Item list.

I am aware of the BOM option within an assembly, but it doesn't effectively solve the problem I have. What I was hoping to do is display the list of all items and assemblies for a particular job, namely through a sales order report since I couldn't find a different way, and see all the assembly parts within that list. As it is right now, it appears that we'll have to go through assemblies individually and check out their BOMs for manufacturing purposes; this can get taxing when machines are complex and have a lot of assemblies within them.
If there is some other way of viewing such a list, please let me know. As I've mentioned, the best I could do was create a sales order for a particular job, include all the parts regarding that job within that sales order, and then do a Sales Order by Item report, filtering by jobs/customers.

We are a car manufacturer and I am facing the same problem as you.

I would like to extract all the parts that make up my car and have details of all the assemblies that make up my car.

We have up to 6 levels of assembly.

Assembly within an assembly, within an assembly, within an assembly that is within an assembly.

Have you found a solution to do this?

I have the impression that we're quickly reaching the limits of QuickBooks and that's a shame.

Did you at least take the time to read your colleague's reply?

She didn't give me any solution.

She simply told me that she didn't have any solution and explained to me how I still have to waste my time reporting this problem to your technical support when you could very well report it yourself.

It's now 4 years since this topic was opened and you still haven't found a solution or made an update to fix it...

Sorry to say, but you're just incompetent and your software is outdated and excessively limited.

I'd rather look for another solution from the competition
