Join nowI have items like Granite slabs that I bring in as inventory. They are a certain size and color. But once I sell it the item won't be replenished. A new one will be brought in a different size. So it gets a new Inventory Item. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to input these and not have to go find and discontinue each one after it sells?
Glad to see you in the Community, @armylife94.
If you're using QuickBooks Enterprise for your inventory, you can use the unit of measurement to enter different prices for the item's sizes. This will let you purchase items in one unit and then sell it by different units of measure.
You can refer to this article for more details: Use single and multiple units of measure for items.
However, if you're other Desktop versions, it'd be best to use custom fields for the different sizes and colors and manually enter the item's price when creating transactions.
Here's how to add the custom fields:
Next, make sure they appear on the sales transaction. You can check this article on how to add them to your transaction's columns: Create and use custom fields in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thank you I am aware of all that. I was more wondering if there was a way to enter it as a one-time item to sell. Instead of telling me to reorder it once they sell that one.
For Example
I buy a granite slab of blue pearl 100" X 70"
Once I sell that I will not have any more that size coming in so that one is gone.
But I am trying to avoid having to go back and discontinue every time we sell one like that.
I do enter the reorder point as -1 so it doesn't remind me to order it. As of now that's the only way I can find to avoid it.
Thanks
Thanks for getting back to us with more detailed information, armylife94.
Currently, we QuickBooks doesn't have an option to automatically remove an item after selling them. You can either delete or edit it manually.
Instead, you can set the item as Non-inventory Part or Service. These item types will not ask for a Reorder Point and On Hand.
Once the item is sold, you can go back to the Item List and update the information of the item based on the new description (size, color, material, etc.).
Also, I'd recommend reaching out to your accountant. They might have another option of entering the item the way you want it.
Let me know if you have more questions about this so I can further assist you with it. Have a great day!
