Join nowHello,
I am not able to reconcile my credit card account.
I've noticed a problem with three transactions in which I made a payment to my credit card account using my personal checking account which is not connected to QB.
For example, on 3/5/20, I entered a payment of $224.45. After I click Save, I see that QB has added another transaction in the same amount as a "charge".
If I delete the "charge", the payment I entered also disappears.
I'm not sure that I am correctly recording the transaction. (Payment made to biz credit card using personal checking account which is not connected to QB).
I'm using QB Online on an iMac OS Mojave 10.14.5
I'll try to add a screenshot.
TIA

Thanks for providing a screenshot and additional details about your concern. I've got some information to help you record the credit card payment correctly.
Let's ensure to use the correct bank account that paid your credit card when creating Credit Card Credit transactions. I'll guide you on how:
Then, go back to the Accounting page and check the amounts on your credit card account.

Thank you for your quick reply, and for welcoming me to the group.
After I posted my question, I had deleted the transactions I referred to in my question.
I now need to re-enter those transactions, but wanted to thank you before taking the time to do that.
I'm confused about when you said, "Let's ensure to use the correct account when creating Credit Card Credit transactions. You can use either the bank account that paid your credit card or where that payment came from".
If I'm making a payment, wouldn't the bank account that paid the credit card be the same as "where the payment came from"?
How do I correctly record the payment when the bank account that I used to pay the credit card was a personal checking account that is not connected to my Quickbooks account?
Thank you,
Melanie
Jumping in to answer your question and offer my help as well, Melanie.
You're actually correct. It looks like the agent is referring to using the bank account where the payment is coming from, which is essentially the same bank account that you'll be using for credit card charges.
Since you're using a personal bank account to pay for the credit card, you'll want to follow the steps in this article on how to record this type of transactions: Pay for business expenses with personal funds.
