Buy nowWoke up to an R8 release update. Updated. Worked and backed up all day. Closed file. Now the main file and all back-ups WILL NOT OPEN. I get that their are either corrupt, truncated, not the correct version, etc. I updated to R8 and it updated the file. How can it not be the correct version? I have a back up from last night on another hard drive and will need to RE-DO my ENTIRE DAY OVER but need to get back the R7 version. There is no options from QB Desktop downloads. Does anyone know how to get R7. I'm literally dead in the water with no way to access my file....and I already know..NEVER DO AN UPDATE...trust me...I've been down a similar road but was in such a rush to login I accepted rather than cancelled.
TIA
Hello there, jennifer62.
I see how re-downloading your QuickBooks Desktop Mac to R7 is important for you. However, our official website has the R8 release update. Since your main file and back-ups will not open, we can update QuickBooks and check your file type. Here's how:
If it persists, we can refer to this article for other solutions we can perform: Learn how to fix general problems when your company file won't open.
If the same thing happens, I would recommend giving us a short call to check it further. We'll need to pull up your account in a secure environment then run a set of examinations. Within your QuickBooks Company file, select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
Also, we can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help panel. To route you to the correct support expert, we need to know what type of question you have. Give a brief description of your issue and click Continue.
Alternatively, you can also use this link:

Yep - its a bug in the latest version (the one that provides Ventura Compatibility) that impacts some users who use e-Invoice and download the payments back into the software.. The symptom is the file, once opened in the new version and then closed, can't be reopened. Its actually missing some header information but the data is intact in the file.
Obviously we are very sorry that this bug escaped our testing. Testing everything is difficult and we are under a lot of pressure to ship the Ventura compatible update. This slipped through.
We pulled the update as soon as it was discovered and have fixed the issue. A new version of the software will be out as soon as possible - I'm hoping tomorrow. The fix is to download that update when it is available and open a backup file.
If you don't have any backup (a backup may have been created when you first ran the new version) contact support and keep the unopenable file to send to them.
