Accepting Credit Cards for Alcohol Sales

As of June 25th of this year our customers are not able to pay for their orders using a credit card.  Quickbooks says this is because we sell alcohol and we need to swipe the card for all alcohol sales.  But this doesn't make any sense because part of our business is online and therefore we have no physical card to swipe.  Our business is totally legal.   Wineries all over the country need to charge cards without swiping in order to charge their wine club shipments.   Is anyone else in this position?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, @arndtcellars.

QuickBooks Payments (Merchant Services) updated its payment policies for regulated industries to be in compliance with State and Federal regulations. They're doing a full evaluation of payment processing practices and procedures to fully support the lawful conduct of business transactions. Intuit does not prohibit these businesses from processing payments, only that they meet certain conditions. You can refer to our Blog for more details on this situation.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate and reach back out! Have a beautiful day.

Explore MP as pne of the backup options. I noticed they are prohibited from working with some business types but alcohol sales is not one of them.
