I have spent a lot of hours recently researching an answer to this issue. I am looking for a compatible check only scanner (not the ones listed in standard reply document scanners) that can scan just checks in Quickbooks desktop environment. I need to process multiple received checks in the Check Solution area. Is there anyone that uses a specific one that is recognized by the software. I have spent hours working with tech support to no avail.
Thank you for posting, @CDK11.
You can use any scanner with your QuickBooks Desktop. Just make sure to use a TWAIN compliant scanner with QuickBooks Scan Manager.
If the error you’re having is relating to TWAIN driver not found, you can check the pointers below on how to resolve it.
See this QuickBooks Scan Manager: Scan and attach documents to transactions article for more information.
Let me know if you need further help with your scanner in the comment section. I’m always here to assist.
I have Twain compliant scanner that Qbooks cannot see or recognize. It is not as simple as that. I am looking for recommendations on actual "check" only scanners people have had success with. I spent two hours on phone last night with tech support with fully compliant Twain / Panini scanner (noted also in qbooks desktop) that cannot be used.
Good morning, @CDK1. Thanks for the response.
I'm here to provide some insight into scanners with QuickBooks.
After following what my colleague @MaryJoyD had suggested, and you're still having trouble with finding the scanner, then I recommend reaching out to your IT or the scanner's technical support. They have the tools that can find the root cause of this matter. In the meantime, I'm going to provide you a list of scanners tested for compatibility when scanning documents and invoices within QuickBooks:
If you see your scanner listed, then check to see if the operating system meets the system requirements.
You can leave me a reply with your exact scanner and the results from the troubleshooting. Have a great day!
After spending significant time on phone with tech support last night, they basically said they could not assist. If you launch qbooks software in check processing area, my scanner is listed and why I purchased this model.
We appreciate your efforts in contacting our tech support.
Let me provide you additional details about this concern. In QuickBooks Dekstop, the list of check only scanner is unavailable.
We need to make sure that your scanner is TWAIN compliant to ensure compatibility with check scanning software.
You can learn more information about eCheck processing in this article.
If you have any other QuickBooks related concerns, you can always post them here.
The question on the floor still is the same.
Is there a list of "Check" only scanners that are both Twain and Qbooks desktop recognized. I just got off phone with rep and the one I have IS TWAIN compliant but is not recognized with quickbooks. It is even listed within quickbooks in set up process.
The list of check only scanners is unavailable, CDK1.
Our program should recognize your scanner since it's TWAIN complaint.
I'd suggest reaching out with your IT professional to check the scanner setup. They can take a better look why our program isn't recognizing it.
We're just around if you have other concerns. Feel free to drop a comment below.
I spent time on phone with both manufacturer and the seller yesterday. Both are in agreement the Panini I have is fully Twain compliant. Sadly, it is listed within Quickbooks desktop installation area as a compliant check scanner.
The both are also in agreement (and what Intuit tech support attempted Monday evening on my PC) is that a proper Twain linking/installation package is necessary. This would come from Intuit support.
I am going to demo several other models and will update my results for the benefit of others that read this thread.
I appreciate you for jumping into this thread, PulseElectric.
If you're also looking for a list of check only scanners, this is still unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop unless the scanner is TWAIN compliant.
You'll want to review the system requirements and make sure your operating system meets them.
If you're referring to e-checks and scan check payments, you can use QuickBooks Payments to process them. This feature is available for users who process ACH bank payments.
