Credit Card processing with 4% Convenience Fee

Is there a way to add our 4% convenience fee, automatically, when a customer pays through QBO with a credit card? Or, do I need to add it to the customer invoice? However, I will not know when a customer is uses QBO credit card payment unless they call and give me the credit card information via phone.

I can help you record your credit card convenience fee in QuickBooks Online.

At this time, we're unable to automatically charge convenience fees for credit card payments in QuickBooks Online. You'll need to do it manually by adding a new line item on your customer's invoice for the convenience fee. Let me guide you how to do that:

On your invoice transaction, click an empty line below the Product/Service column.
Select Add new from the product or service drop-down.
Choose Service.
Enter the description of the convenience fee on the Name field.
Click Save and close.
Once done, enter the Rate.
Click Save and Close.

You can also record credit card charges directly from the Merchant Services Center. Please check out the Process a Credit Card payment section of this article to know more about the process: Process a Payment in Merchant Service Center

Has QB online made it so we can automatically charge the credit card fee when a customer opts to pay online with a card?

Giving you the best experience in processing customer's payments is what we aim for. However, adding a convenience or credit card fee automatically on the transaction in QBO hasn't been made available. I recommend following the workaround steps above provided by my colleague, Jen_D.
