Re: Duplicate Customer Account Numbers

Thanks for checking in with us, AmithS.

I can provide you with some information about duplicate customer account numbers in QuickBooks Desktop.

Setting up a warning to prompt in QuickBooks Desktop if you have duplicate account numbers assigned to your customer is currently unavailable. If you'd like to have the option to set a warning directly in QuickBooks, I suggest you let our Product Development Team know so they'll consider this in a future update.

To send feedback:

  1. Go to Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Click on Send Feedback Online.
  3. Select Product Suggestion.
  4. Enter your feedback or feature request.
  5. Click on Send Feedback.

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Re: Duplicate Customer Account Numbers

If you Right Click the Names List in Customer Center, you can choose Customize Columns. Now add Account Number to your view here. When you want to Sort the view of a list, you click on the column header title, so click to Sort ascending or descending (click, then click, to see the little arrow change from up to down to up) and sort on the Account Number column. When you are done, click the large diamond, top left of Name, to put the Customer Center back into native sort sequence. And if you realize the Names are not in sequence from new customers being added to the top, you use View menu > Re-Sort List.
