Join nowWhen I enter a maual check and choose the 'category' I have always typed in the beginning of the account name and that would pull up a list in numerical order.
Today, it is not pulling in sequential order and it is really weird. I have not changed anything and i can not find a function that will allow me to change this.
EXAMPLE
My Cost of Goods sold account # is 5000. It goes through 5100... 5200... etc.
When I type Cost of Goods I should get the drop down that shows all the account in this group in a number order. It is not, instead I get 5200.. instead of 51...
Hi there, @elemoi.
First, let's find the Cost of Goods Sold account from the Chart of Accounts. This way, we can identify if something is going on with your browser.
If everything is correct, your browser may have accumulated too much historical data that causes issues like this. Clearing browser caches can resolve it. Let's start by accessing your account through an incognito window to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. You can refer to these shortcut keys to open an incognito window in all supported browsers:
Once signed in, create a check and look for the Cost of Goods Sold account. If you're able to do so, let's clear the browser's cache. By clearing them, you can remove that historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser to see if it has something to do with your browser.
I'll be right here should you need further assistance in managing your accounts in QuickBooks Online. Have a good day!
It did not work.
It is the number sequence. My Cost of Goods account # is 5000
The next number is 5100 - COGS - Material cost
Then it is 5110
But instead of coming up like this , it shows 5000 first
but then the next account number is 5230. It has bypassed all the # in the 51xx sequence.
It makes no sense. It was working fine and the next day it wasn't. I didn't do anything, there were no updates.
Is there anything in the settings to set the way the numbers show up?
Thanks for doing the basic troubleshooting steps, elemoi.
I would think the same way if I couldn't see certain categories under a specific account number group.
Let me route you to the team that can better evaluate this with more tools. They can start with a screen-sharing session to gather more information on the issue.
