How can I put a hold (authorization) on a client's credit card for a ongoing project on Quickbooks Online

Hello, accounting-axis-.


I'm more than willing to show you a step-by-step process on how to put a hold on your client's credit card. 


You can process a hold on your client's credit card by going to your Merchant Services account. Here's how: 


  1. Log in to
  2. Hover your mouse on Processing Tools.
  3. Click the Authorize funds option.
  4. Enter your client's credit card details.
  5. Click Submit




Note: This can only be done within the Merchant Services center. If you have a different payment processing provider, you might want to reach out to their support and ask how to put a hold on the credit card. 


When you're ready to receive the funds, you can use the Capture authorized funds function. Simply go to the Capture authorized funds tab, then search for the client's credit card details.
