How do I completely disable the merchant services from QuickBooks online? I have switched payment processing and want to cease the fees from the QB Merchant Services.

I have changed card processing services and I want to eliminate the fees from the QB merchant services.

Welcome to the Community, apexmanager.
 

You can cancel a QuickBooks Payments subscription anytime you'd like.
 

I'll guide you through how it's done:

  1. Sign in to your Merchant Service Center portal as an admin user.
  2. In the blue navigation bar, move your cursor over Account to display a drop-down, then choose Account Profile.
  3. Click Close Account.
  4. You'll see a Reason for closing menu. Pick a reason and enter any comments you'd like to share..
  5. Select Submit.


Once your request is processed, you'll receive a confirmation email from Intuit within one business day. After cancellation, you can access the Merchant Service Center to view or download reports, statements, and tax forms for up to 12 months.

You can log out, then log back in to switch to a different user. Although, you mentioned that you can click on Close account which means you're already logged in as the admin. Here's an article on how to verify the type of access that you're using: Change User Roles for QuickBooks Payments

 

A possible browser issue might have caused the Close account button to be unresponsive. You can switch to an incognito browsing session or use a different one. Here's how to open an incognito session:

 

  • Ctrl Shift N  for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl Shift P for Microsoft Edge

 
Once done, log back in and check if you can already cancel the account. If you're able to do that, follow the steps in this article to delete your browsing history: Clear Cache And Cookies To Fix Issues When Using QuickBooks Online

 

Aside from that, you can also unlink your Merchant account directly from QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Proceed to the Payments tab.
  3. In the Payment Methods, remove the credit card.

 

After canceling your account, You can still sign into the Merchant Services Center for up to 12 months. That means you have one full year to view and download your reports, statements, and tax forms.

THIS DOES NOT WORK, AT ALL.  ALL IT DOES IS MAKE THE "STOP" LINK FLASH FOR A WHILE.  THAT'S IT.

I appreciate you for letting us know about the result. I'm here to help you get in touch with our QuickBooks Payments Team so you can disable the account successfully.

 

Users with an admin level of access can cancel a Payments account. If you're unsure of your access type, you can ask the admin to check it on your behalf.

 

The admin can click the Account drop-down and select the Users option to view the list. In case there's a need to change a user's role, here are the steps:

 

  1. Click the Account drop-down, then select UsersSelect users in My Merchant Account menu in QuickBooks Online
  2. View the user list.
  3. Make the necessary changes if necessary.

 

If you're unable to make it inactive using the correct access, contact our QuickBooks Payments Team. They can securely check your account and further help you with the subscription cancellation.

 

Our Customer Support Team is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday). Here's how:

 

  1. Go to: Contact Payments or Point of Sale Support.
  2. Click Chat with us under QuickBooks Payments.
  3. Enter the necessary information.
  4. Hit Start Chat
