How Do I Hide Markup On Invoices with Multiple Lines?

I'm using QB Premier.  I've identified billable expenses for a customer, I've set my markup, and now I need to invoice them.  I'm running into two produced invoices, each with their own issues:

1.  I select all of the expenses I have to bill for, it moves them into the invoice, with tax and markup calculated.  All good, except, and this is a BIG exception - it demonstrates to the customer what our cost is, AND what are markup is, which is not something we would ever consider providing to the customer.

2. Option 2 is to select to have time and costs billed together as one item.  Once again the expenses are moved into the invoice, with tax and markup calculated.  This time the invoice produces a single line with not a markup in site.  However, now all detail is gone.  We no longer are able to show an itemized listing of parts purchased.

So, my question is how do I produce an invoice that provides multiple lines of expenses, without showing the markup, much in the way the estimate template works?

Hi @graceblue23,

As of the moment, there isn't an option to exclude your mark up cost when creating an invoice with multiple billable expense line items.

What you have been doing is options we have. But don't worry, I'll pass along your request to our product developers. This way, they'll know your display preferences when sending invoices.

In addition, I'd recommend checking our QuickBooks Resource Center so you can be updated with all the latest features released in the software.

As always, you can visit our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Desktop if in case you need to learn some "How do I' steps.

It'll be always my pleasure to help if you have any other questions. I'll be keeping an eye for your response.

That's truly disappointing and I'm really surprised, as I can't imagine we're the only company that provides an itemized invoice to a customer for purchases.  I appreciate your help, and hope that QB can create this feature in invoicing in the future, as it appears to already be established in the estimating entry.

Hello, @graceblue23.

I know how important the feature of hiding the markup on invoices with multiple lines for you. As mentioned by my colleague Jonpril_L, he'll pass along your request to our product developers and I myself will also take note this information and pass along the suggestion for you.

Let me know if you have any other QuickBooks or invoices concerns, I'll be always here to help you. Have a great day ahead!

Wow, this is a huge issue. Nobody at Intuit considered that we don’t want our customers to see a markup?!?!  I have to seriously reconsider whether I want to use this software, since it looks like I’ll have to track everything manually anyway.

Your feedback matters to us, @Joy gardener.

Letting us know what works best for you will show our developers what they need to consider in future product updates.

Since my colleagues have already passed this as a feature request, I'm sure this is taken into consideration.

If there's anything else you need, do let me know. I'm also here to help.
