how to add court costs to a customersmoutstanding bill when we already paid the cost

WE had to take a customer to small claims court. We won and now I need to add that amount to his invoice. I don't have a item code for this. And it is showing up as one of our expenses. The customer needs to reimburse us for that expense. Not really sure how to add this on to his invoice.

as with any expense, you pay the expenses you incur

 

create a service item for court costs, link it to the Other Income account and use it on the invoice

Make a Two Sided Other Charge Type item. Link the left side to your Expense and the right side to your Income. Use that item on the payment for the filing and job track it as Billable to that customer name. Now you select it using the Add Time & Costs function at the top of the invoice, to be repaid.
