How to record an ACH customer payment made through QuickBooks Payments



I just set up QuickBooks Payments on QB online to receive ACH payments only. I've received my first one. QB automatically selected "QuickBooks Payments-Bank" as the payment method. I read somewhere that QB takes care of everything for you, recording the payment once it posts to your checking account. 


The payment has already posted in my checking account, however QB has not put that payment deposit into my checking account. How do I get that payment moved over from sitting in the "QuickBooks Payments-Bank" into a deposit in my bank account? Do I have to do this manually? I thought QB was supposed to "take care of everything".

Thanks for the question!  You are correct; typically, QuickBooks will take care of those auto-deposits for you.  Since this was your first transaction, the transaction was probably flagged as delayed (which is typical of transactions for new merchants with us since we will review the first transaction).  When the transaction is delayed, QuickBooks may not auto-record the deposit. 


In this case, you will want to go to Bank Deposit by clicking the + sign and select the section labelled QuickBooks Payments.  This transaction should be there, and you can make the deposit from that screen.


Future transactions, going forward, should auto-record for you.
