I am using the wrong version of Quickbooks. How do I switch to another version?

This happens when you have set up your Tax form and Industry to a Non-profit. I'd be glad to show you how to verify this.

1. Go to Settings and select Account and Settings.
2. Click the Company tab.
3. Select the Company type section and verify the Tax form and the Industry.
4. If the business type isn't supposed to be a non-profit, then you can change it by clicking the drop-down button of the Tax form.
5. Enter the correct type in the Industry field.
6. Select Save and Done.

I've added a screenshot for your additional reference.

Once the changes are made, the entity and report labels are updated in 2-3 business days. Also, I'd like to share some several terminologies changed when your company is set up to non-profit:

• Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet become Statement of Activity and Statement of Financial Position.
• Invoices become Pledges.
• Income and Expenses become Revenue and Expenditures.

I am currently using self employed and I want to use small business online as I have a couple of employee and I need to add them on.  I am still in a trail period.  So how do I upgrade this and change it over

It's my pleasure to walk you through the process of upgrading from QuickBooks Self-Employed to Online. This way, you can add your data and employee to it. 

The first thing we need to do is to save your financial reports to hold on to your work for your records. 

1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, go to the Reports menu.
2. In the Tax details section, choose a tax year.
3. Click Download to get a Tax Details report.
4. Download a report for each tax year you have in QuickBooks.
5. Redo the following steps above for your Profit and Loss, Mileage Log, and Receipts.

Then, move your data into QuickBooks Online. Let me show you how:

1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Billing info.
2. If you see the Explore QuickBooks Online plans, click it to start the upgrade.
3. Select Switch plan or Choose plan for the QuickBooks Online subscription you want.
4. Follow the on-screen steps. 
5. Click Bring my data if you want to choose which data you move over. 
6. When you're ready, select To QuickBooks Online. 
7. If you see a billing info review screen, choose Change plan to start.

If you don't see Explore QuickBooks Online plans, it means you'll need to manually move your data. For the detailed steps, please see this article: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online.

You should open a new blank QBO account and migrate your data manually.

Otherwise, purchase a 3rd party migration service.
