Hello,

 

What kind of card reader is it?  Are you plugging it into a mobile device or a computer?

 

I can tell you that if it's one of the bluetooth card readers you ordered from your Gopayment account, even though they come with a USB cable it is ONLY for charging.  You cannot use that reader on anything other than a mobile device via bluetooth.

 

If you want a card reader you can plug into a computer you can use with QuickBooks Online, you need a specific one.  Right now 69.99 through Intuit.  Here is the article about using it and it has links to order the reader.  https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/Use-a-USB-credit-card-reader-with-QuickBooks-O...

i just posted at https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Other-questions/USB-card-reader-for-desktop/td-p/218333 and https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Do-more-with-QuickBooks/Magtek-reader/td-p/294253 regarding using the qb21 card reader with quickbooks. have you confirmed that both the readers shown here [https://quickbooks.intuit.com/payments/readers/] don't work via usb?

 

that magtek reader that you referenced is just a mag stripe swiper, correct? doesn't read chips? if so... why would they not be supporting a chip-reading device in this configuration?

Both readers should also work via usb, wdi. You might need to change your device settings to make it compatible with the readers. I'd recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. If you're using the USB Magtek card reader, ensure to install the card reader software into your computer and plugged it directly without the use of any USB hub or extension.
