It’s great to see you in the Community, kdrum.

I’m here to help and guide you on how to disconnect and reconnect your AMEX account.

Before proceeding, check if you if have any unaccepted transactions in the For Review tab that need to be added to the register. If yes, add and match them, especially if the entries are older than 90 days.

Once you disconnect the account, QuickBooks deletes any transactions that still need to be reviewed. Also, if they're older than 90 days, you won't be able to download them into QBO again.

When you’re ready, let go to the Bank and Credit Cards page to disconnect AMEX. Here’s how:

  1. Tap the Banking menu on the left panel and click Banking to open the Bank and Credit Cards page.
  2. From there, select the account you’re working on.

  3. Hit the Pencil icon to choose Edit account info.

  4. This will open the Account window.
  5. Scroll down to mark the box for Disconnect this account on save.

  6. Press the Save and close button.

Next, add your AMEX account to establish the connection. You can perform the process with just a few clicks.

  1. Go to the Banking menu on the left panel and click Banking to open the Bank and Credit Cards page.
  2. Click Add account to access the Connect an account page.
  3. Type AMEX in the Enter your bank name or URL field box.
  4. Choose the account from the list and then hit Continue to proceed.

  5. On the financial institution’s website, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

For additional resources, the following links outline the instructions on how to unlink or remove an account as well as steps to add it to QBO.

Reach out to me if you need further assistance while working in QBO. I’ll be right here to help and make sure you’re taken care of. Have a great rest of the day.

Hi Rasa-LilaM,

I have a similar issue, but when I tried to connect and selected my account from the drop down menu (Chart of Account), I received the message that it's trying to create another account. Are you familiar with this error message? I've attached a screenshot
