Invoices and payments not showing on statements

I am trying to do statements but my invoices (paid or unpaid) are not showing up on the statements.  Note:  I received a payment for a retainer and am trying to apply the invoices towards the retainer payment.  What am I doing wrong?  Any help would be appreciated.  I am using Quickbooks Pro 2019

Invoices and payments not showing on statements

Welcome and thanks for reaching out to the Community, paverny.

Transactions such as invoices and payments entered in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) should show up in the statements. To isolate this, let's try to recreate it again to check. Here's how:

  1. In your QBDT, go to the Customers menu at the top to get to the Create Statements28.PNG
  2. Make sure to select all the information you want to show in the statement.
  3. Hit Preview to double-check all the transactions. 29.PNG
  4. Once done, hit Close, then Print or Email.

For more information, refer to this article: Create a billing statement.

If the invoices and payments are still now showing, let's run the QuickBooks built-in diagnostic and repair tools called rebuild and verify data utilities. These tools will repair and notify you of any possible data damage within the file. Here's how:

  1. Go to File, then select Utilities and Rebuild Data.
  2. Choose OK. Follow the prompts to save a backup.
  3. Click OK once completed.
  4. Now, go back to File, then Utilities, and select Verify Data this time.

If QB detected no problem with your data, hit OK and double-check if the date is already correct. However, if it finds an issue, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors. Choose Close, then perform the steps below. Here's how:

  1. Locate and check the QBWin.log or QuickBooks.log files.
  2. Scroll to the bottom for the most recent Verify information.
  3. Find the line that contains the LVL_ERROR, then check Top data damage errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

For additional information about the process, consider checking out this article: Resolve data damage on your company file.

Let me know in the comment if you have any other issues or concerns. I'm more than happy to assist. Have a great rest of the day!
