Hi, I'm using the template "Intuit Service Invoice", coming along with my QB Pro 2018.
I've defined a Service Item, with name/code and description. Then when I use this template to generate invoice, I found that everything else (description/rate) is in the table, except "Item Name/Code".
When I edit the template by "Additional Customization" => "Columns", to my surprise, the "Item Name" is checked by default, but somehow it just won't show up in the table layout. Please refer to the screenshot below.
Am I missing something? Any idea?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Are you saying you can't see it when you create an Invoice using this template and are entering data? If so that's new/weird.
Yes, actually if you look at my screenshot above, to the right side, "Item" is not showing up in the preview.
The first column is "Description", even though "Item" is specified as Column 1
Thank you. That works. "Check for Print View". I just thought that's for printing ONLY, but it seems that you have to check it regardless.
Really appreciate it!
"I just thought that's for printing ONLY, but it seems that you have to check it regardless."
Yes, it is for Output.
Example: in that Customization tool, the little preview on the right, and the Graphic view seen when using Layout Designer, are the Output view that is seen in Print, Print Preview, and Email. On your Create Invoice Screen, you always see Item. You optionally control if the Customer sees it or not.
You use the Columns tab for the Numbering sequence, as well, and this changes your own Tab Through sequence on the screen.
You can. for instance, show the customer only Description, as I teach in my class using this example. You have an HVAC business, so you have some cryptic part numbers that are Item Name, such as:
120V5hp Motor; Description = Motor
240V3ph5hp Motor; Description = Motor
But you what to list for the customer sale only: Motor. That is why you Suppress the Item column for the Print Out/Email view.
You control all of this.
