pay bills - one payment for multiple bills

When making one payment of multiple bills, it is showing as multiple payments on my bank ledger. Can I make it show one transaction (ie the amount paid through the bank) on the bank ledger? I upload my bank transactions so it's starts life as one transaction then when I match it to the multiple bills it splits into mulitple payments. I would like it to stay as just one transaction. Is this possible?

Glad to have you here in the Community, @AJGmc.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), when making one payment into multiple bills, it will show multiple payments in the bank ledger. Currently, we're unable to filter it into one transaction.

You can check this link about customizing reports in QBO: Customize reports. It will provide you an option to filter specific transactions.

I'd also encourage checking our Help articles page to learn some tips and tricks in managing your QBO account. From there, you can read great articles that can guide you through the steps by steps process.

This is the way that i a work around this problem.

I will go to pay bills and paid them all with cash on hand account

then I do a JE from the bank to the cash on hand account and that allows me to match the transaction.

it is rather stupid but does the trick.

I hope it helps

Work Around:  Before check run, book a credit memo to suspense for that vendor for the lump amount to cover all of the many bills you need to pay.  Then copy that credit memo and change it to a bill and book that to suspense as well with the same lump sum and date as the credit memo (the check run date).  Apply the credit memo to the numerous bills and save.  Then when you do your actual check run only select the one bill to suspense for that vendor.  Boom, vendor gets one payment.
