Payment Links in Quickbooks Enterprise Desktop - Copy and Paste - w/o emailing link

Hello -

 

I would like to be able to create a Payment Link and paste it into an email.  I am wondering if anyone knows how to copy the link URL without first emailing the link via the Payment Link window?

 

We could just send all of the Payment Link creation emails to ourselves - but it seems there should be a way to generate and copy the payment link URL before it send out an email.

 

We just started using the Payment Link function - so we may have missed a step.

I'll give some information about the payment link generation in QuickBooks Desktop. 

 

The payment links are always generated within the emailed forms. We're unable to generate them without using the email function in QuickBooks Desktop. 

 

For now, I would suggest sending your emails to your team first then get the payment links manually. 

 

Although, generating payment links could be added in the future. I'd also suggest sending feedback to our developers. Simply click the Help menu, hover on Send Feedback Online, then select Product Suggestion

 

This will be reviewed by our developers and they might add in the coming updates. You can stay tuned from our newsletters and in-product updates.

You need to use a 3rd party payment processor to generate a payment link and put it on your invoice. QB Payment doesn't support it yet.

I 100% agree with you.  I also want the option to copy and paste the link without having to email it first.  Since that doesn't currently seem to be an option, my work-around is to still select the customer that I want to send the payment link to like normal, but then I replace their email address with my own.  Then once the email is sent, the option to copy and paste the link or get the QR code pops up.

I couldn't agree with this more.  I'm not sure what the purpose of a Payment Link button is if we have to initially email the invoice from within the system first.  I mean that's what we're all trying to avoid.  Furthermore, how genious would it be to be able to pay a STATEMENT balance using a payment link vs having to pay multiple invoices all in separate transactions.  Hell, I even tried to have a customer override the payment to the total amount of all their invoices and the system would not let them do it.  Way too complicated!!!!

I'd like to know what does the "Payment Link" do for anybody else?  When I click the button or go to Customers --> Payment Links, it gives me a login and I attempt to login but it doesn't go anywhere.  It just keeps looping.  The button doesn't work at all.  I have tried twice to contact support regarding this issue.  20+ days ago I spent over 2 hours on the phone with someone on this issue and they couldn't tell me what was wrong.  Today I spent another 45 minutes and like usual I felt like I was more knowledgeable on the Quickbooks problem that the support person I was on with.  What does this button do?  Or is it just there looking important?

This isn't the kind of impression we want you to experience when reaching out to our support team, @whaley. I'm here to make it up with you.

 

The Payment Link button is used when your customers want to pay their invoices online. However, based on your scenario, it looks like you're having issues linking your merchant service account to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). In this case, you'll want to make sure that your QBDT is updated. This way, you can link your merchant service account and process payments for your customer's invoice.

 

If you get the same result after updating your QBDT to the latest release, your company data may have issues. Let's run the Verify and Rebuild utility tools to fix data issues in QBDT. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data.
  3. Click OK to close all windows. If you see “Your data has failed the integrity check” you need to rebuild your file.
  4. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  5. Choose Rebuild Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  6. QuickBooks will ask to make a backup before rebuilding your company file, select OK. If you don’t want to do a backup, select Cancel to continue rebuilding your company file.
  7. Once the rebuild's finished, select OK.
