PayPal fees entry

Hi, we use QB online.  We accept payments using PayPal. Everything is auto entered if we send an invoice and the customer pays it with paypal. Payment receipt, withdrawal from paypal and fees are all separately entered. However, we also take paypal payments on our website.  Our website takes care of sending the payment entry to QB and through our bank feed we have been able to auto enter the withdrawal amount via bank feed rules, however, we haven't found a way to enter the fees automatically. Does anyone have a solution please?

PayPal fees entry

Hi there, @melady.

Currently,  there's no option to automatically enter fees in QuickBooks Online. You'll have to manually enter the fees and make a deposit.

Here's how to make a deposit:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Banking menu, then select Record Deposits/Make Deposits.
  3. On the Make Deposit window, select the bank account where the payment will be deposited under the Deposit To drop-down.
  4. Enter the date and memo (optional).
  5. Complete the table for your entries.
  6. Click Save & Close.

I've added these articles for additional information with making bank deposits: How to record bank deposits.

I know how beneficial this feature, for you and your business. Rest assured, I will send this feedback to our Product Engineers. New product ideas and improvements are largely based on the feedback we get from users like you.

I'll add our QuickBooks Blog to know the recent features and updates that our Product Engineers are working on.

In case you have other questions about fees in QuickBooks Online, please let me know. I'm always here to assist. All the best.

PayPal fees entry

Thanks but it's only the fees for our online (webshop) orders that I can't automate.

For the withdrawals from paypal that are deposited into QB, I use a rule in banking that any receipt with the specific paypal reference (the first part is always the same so I use that) is treated as a transfer from PayPal account into Current Account. That works for me.

I guess I'll have to keep entering them manually for now.

Thanks you :)
