Printing Checks in QuickBooks Desktop

When printing checks, there was a problem connecting to the printer.

The checks did not print, but looking in the Vendor Center, the vendors

show a zero balance.

Looking at the vendors' details, I see checks as "ToPrint" in the check number portion of the payment detail.

How do I print the checks, once printer connection issue is resolved?

Printing Checks in QuickBooks Desktop

Hello, JoeJ58.

I've got a process to help you fix your printing check problems.

Before diving in, there are considerations we need to acknowledge when setting up a printer and printing it.

Check the following before you start troubleshooting.

Then, to know if your printer can print outside of QuickBooks, use Notepad.

  1. Select Start and browse to Notepad.
  2. Enter some text and choose File, then Print.
  3. Select the correct printer and select Print

If that print test didn't work, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  2. Make sure the printer paper is loaded correctly.
  3. Select the Windows Start button, browse to the Control Panel, and double-click Printers and Faxes.
  4. If the printer shows Offline, right-click the printer and select Use Printer Online.
  5. Double-click the printer and if there are print jobs displayed in the queue, choose Printer, then Cancel All Documents.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Right-click the printer, choose Properties, and select Print Test Page.

Note: If the printer is a network printer and the test page does not print, network issues could be the cause.

If the issue persists, let's go back to Solution 1 through this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems. This resolves common printing problems. Once finished, print the check again.

However, if all fails, I suggest contacting your IT personnel. They can help you troubleshoot the printing issue.

Let me know if you have other printing concern in QuickBooks. I'm here to lend a hand. Stay safe!
