putting updated credit card number into Quickbooks Online

Hello,

Our credit card company recently switched from Discover to Capital One. They gave us a new number obviously and I need to enter the new information in Quickbooks Online for autopay transactions that go through QBO. How do I do this? Do I need to disconnect the Discover account and create a new Capitol One account and where do I go to put in the new credit card numbers?

Hello, Knitter73,

If your credit card company switched from Discover to Capital One, you don’t need to disconnect the Discover account. Just add the new Capital One credit card and update your autopay transactions.

Here’s how:

  1. From the Schedule bill payments screen, select Select Account, then choose Add a bank account.
  2. Search for your bank, select it, and click Next.
  3. Enter your user ID and password to authorize the account. If needed, select Enter account info manually, input your bank details, and click Continue.
  4. Wait for two small deposits from "Intuit Inc.", which will arrive within three business days.
  5. Once the deposits appear, return to QuickBooks, select Verify this account, and enter the deposit amounts.
  6. Go to the Payment account dropdown in QuickBooks, select the correct account from your chart of accounts, and click Done. This ensures everything is organized for reconciliation.

After the account is added, you can now use the new account for payments.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to reply.
