QB desktop custom invoice template won't add second page.

I am working in Quickbooks desktop (2015) and I need to add a second page to my custom invoice template. The second page is just for text (rights and obligations related to the invoice). I have been unable to get the layout designer to create a second page or find any specific instructions on how to do this (apart from an article that suggested adjusting the bottom margin and dragging fields from the first page to take them below the margin, which has not worked), though as far as I can see multiple page invoices should be possible as they are mentioned in articles about other things. Any advice gratefully received, either on how to get a second page on the template or whether there is an alternative way to automatically issue an additional page of text alongside every invoice.

Hello, RB-ERA.

I can provide you some information about adding a second page to your customize invoice via QuickBooks Desktop.

Customizing and adding a second page to your invoice for rights and obligations is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop.

The Layout  Designer lets you add or remove header/columns from the template, allows you to move and resize items and information on your template.

Here's a helpful article for your reference: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/Use-and-customize-form-templates/m-p/207841.

Should you need more help with customizing an invoice, feel free to let me know. I'd be happy to help.

I would like to second this feature to be added to the layout designer.  It is very common to have a terms and conditions appended to the invoice, which I have to attach manually everytime that I send out an email invoice (as an attachment).  Please put this as a priority in Quickbooks enhancements requests.  Thank you.

We send out invoices via email and need a 2nd page to add our W-9. So pre-printing etc. will not work and I tried the attachment on the invoice, but it doesn't save the attachment to the PDF it only attaches if you use an email.  I need one PDF with an invoice on page 1 and my form on page 2. This can not be that hard to make available.

Has the ability to add a second page to the customer invoice been resolved?  We need the 2nd page for warranty and legal disclaimer.  I haven't found any real solution yet.

We are also in the need of a second page for our invoice.  We use it for warranty and legal disclaimer.  I'm using QB Enterprise.

Thanks for joining the conversation, @eisbell,

At the moment, QuickBooks invoices and its templates are single-page documents. If you have large blocks of standard text, such as legal notifications or disclaimers that require a two-page invoice, you can adjust the margins on the first page to force a second page.

Perform the steps below to customize the invoice template:

  1. On your company file, go to Lists then Templates.
  2. Right-click on the default template you're using and select Edit Template.
  3. Go to the Additional Customization section. This is where you can add or remove QuickBooks fields from the template.
  4. Next, click on the Layout Designer button that provides full control over the template contents and layout.
  5. Click the Margins button at the bottom and change the bottom margin to a number that's equal to the size of the area at the top of the second page in which you can place QuickBooks data fields, such as 2 inches, for example.
  6. Select No on the prompt.
  7. Click the Out button on the toolbar several times to zoom out until you can see the entire contents of the template on your screen.
  8. Adjust the layout at the bottom of the first page and the top of the second page by dragging fields to their new locations. Place data fields you want to appear on the second page between the dotted line and the solid line at the bottom of the invoice template.
  9. Select the Add icon and choose Text Box. Type your standard text into the text box, and place it at the bottom of the first page or at the top of the second page. Add two text boxes to place one in each location.
  10. Hit  OK to save your layout changes.

I'm also taking note of your request, and rest assured making it my top priority, that your suggestion reaches our developers. We take this as an opportunity for us to improve QuickBooks, making it efficient and productive to use.

The purpose and benefit of a relational database like Quickbooks is that you should not have to duplicate data. It does not make sense that I have to attach forms created in other programs to my emails.

It's not just additional one page forms. Some things are just more than one page in length, so there should also be a way to duplicate headers and footers.

My tax professional wants me to convert over to online instead of desktop. I have to say that I'm reluctant. Proposals, inspections, and invoices. How am I going to create these things in the field? If I cannot do it in the desktop version, will I be able to do it in the Online version?

We really do need a 2nd page for terms and conditions.  I can't use Quickbooks for my estimates at all because of this issue.  I have to use 2 different systems now which makes Quickbooks an incomplete solution for our business.  Contractors need terms!

This solution does not work properly. The second page does not populate and I do not get a prompt after I set the bottom margin to 2 inches.

We really need a 2 page invoice. It is an extremely common business practice regardless of industry.

Hello,@bbutler1.

Currently, the ability to customized the second page of your invoice template is not available. In the meantime, you'd want to upload a copy of your rights and obligations related to the invoice. Once uploaded, you can it as an additional attachment when creating and sending an invoice to your customers.

Here's how to upload:

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Choose Documents.
  3. Select the Doc Center.
  4. Locate where you have saved your invoice rights and obligation document, then click Open.
  5. Mark the tick box for the document you want to attach.
  6. Click Done.

Once you are ready to send the invoice to your clients, you can add the uploaded document as an attachment. Here's how:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Select Send Forms.
  3. Mark the invoice you want to send.
  4. Review the sender and recipient's email address.
  5. Click the Attachment icon.
  6. Locate where you have saved your invoice rights and obligation document, then click Open.
  7. Click Send Now

You can use these articles to learn more about how the Attachment feature works:

I appreciate it, however I already know how to do that.  Our issue is that our Sales Dept and other employees don't always remember to add the attachment.  We want a zero effort document to where they just send the one that they have created without having to remember to add another attachment.

Thank you

I agree with the addition of a second page. We use the contractors edition and we frequently have to provide releases with our invoices. I have been able to create a duplicate invoice template filling out the release for me but I'm not able to send just one email now with both templates. This would be a huge help for me.

My solution to the need for waranty information was to create a "non-inventory part" number for waranty. The "product description" is a paragraph long and describes our waranty terms. The price is left blank. The drawback to this is that I must always remember to add the warranty information to the invoice.

Quickbooks - check with your internal legal representation to see if an estimate with an attached containing terms and condition (essentially 2 documents) will hold up in a court of law.  My lawyer is advising us to move away due to multiple reason the biggest being a signed legal document/binding agreement is a singular document.  Also with Covid we are required by mandate to provide contactless interaction and a signature option is/will be the norm.  This need to be resolved asap to retain our business.

Have there been any updates to this issue?  We also need to add the 2nd page of terms and email a single PDF document as a requirement of several customers.

Hi there, @kkolesar
