Join nowOur PC did a Windows 10 update last week. Not sure if this is related or not, but nearly every day since, Quickbooks POS has frozen at some point during the day, and we have to manually reboot entire PC. Other applications work, just not POS. Any thoughts?

Hi Jenn49654,
It is possible that a hardware driver may be to blame. In the article Resolve Point of Sale errors in Windows 10, there is a section that includes more information about this. It may also be worthwhile to reach out directly to support for an issue like this one. the phone number for QuickBooks Point of Sale is 1-800-348-0254.

I have had the same problem since I upgraded to POS 18. I use windows 7. I believe my problem is that I have to use 32bit instead of 64 which allows less then 4 Megs of RAM to be used. I was on the support number for over a half hour before I was hung up on during putting me on hold. May want to check available ram? Also of note is that my system reverted to an older version during one of the restarts. Good luck.
Good day, uh60whit.
Thanks for visiting the Community space. Let me help you fix your QuickBooks Point of Sale.
One possible reason for why QuickBooks Point of Sale is freezing is that the Windows admin permission was not given to POS software. You have to run the QBPOSAdminUtility on your computer where it is installed to fix the issue.
Here's how:
1. Download the utility to a location on your computer. Make sure to do this for each server and client workstation that has Point of Sale installed and will process credit cards.
2. Right-click on the QBPOSAdminUtility.exe and select option Run as administrator.
3. Once the utility runs and is successful, click OK button to complete the process.
If the same thing happens after doing the recommended steps above, I'd suggest giving our phone support a call for further assistance. Here’s how you can reach them:
1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
2. If asked, choose a product.
3. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
4. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.
Please reach out to me if you need anything else. I’ll be right here to help. Have a good one!
