I recently started issuing commissions via ACH through my bank. I had to pay one early and since I was doing that commission I did the rest and set up an ACH in my check register for them. A week plus later, when I actually pay commissions, I had forgotten I had set them up on my register and set them up again.
That made me realize I had duplicates listed and, unlike the To Be Paid info where the ck # goes, that it does not have an option, i.e., to be ACH'd etc. I am sure I am not the only one using ACH through their bank...how would you or do you handle this situation?
Now, I put in ACH and fill out the info, then go to the bank site, click send ACH and fill that in, but like in the above example I really don't know by looking at the register if they have been sent or if they are waiting to be sent. I am thinking to continue to use To Be Paid, but them I would have to go back and change all of them to ACH vs a check number that would normally be automatically input with a check.
All suggestions will be appreciated.

On your ACH template and initiation log, you should be able to see Pending, In Progress, Initiated, and even "date of settlement." That means you might even be able to Cancel something set enough dates in advance. You also look to see if a batch was initiated that is the settlement date before the next is initiated. And you should be printing the ACH run and keeping it as a .pdf, for reference. That way, you initiate, you document, and if the bank drops the ball, you have your proof that it was scheduled.
You also can reverse ACH and under pay next time.
Good afternoon Mrbucks1,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I'd like to help you out with your ACH payments.
If you don't mind, I'd like to ask a few questions to clarify. Which QuickBooks product are you currently using? Additionally, is it possible to view cleared transactions on your bank website to see if they've been duplicated?
I look forward to chatting with you soon!
Using 2016 pro and if I were caught up on reconciliations I could see them. I am just trying to simplify things so I do not duplicate payments because whether I adh's hem or not it shows ach, vs something like to be printed and a check number when printed.

Thanks, however, I did catch it and deleted the ones I did earlier to get ahead of the game. So I am just looking for a way to be sure it does not happen in the future.

Well, I always list my tasks for each work day in my Timesheet entry notes. That way, if I can't remember, I scan to see if I entered, for instance: Reconciled bank, initiated ACH.
