I appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback about the emailed invoice layout. Your input gives our product engineers ideas on changes. In fact, most of the tweaks in QuickBooks Online (QBO) are coming from users' suggestions.
Yes, you can save invoices as a PDF and email them to your customers as a workaround.
You can also click on the Download icon in the Print preview window to save the invoice as a PDF.

Re: "The intention was to downplay the QuickBooks brand with the new invoice emails". Who are you trying to kid here? This is just absolute spin. The idea that it "lends credibility" is hog-wash (good marketing spin though). MY brand lends credibility! I don't need Quickbooks to represent my business. There is NO legal reason for this. There is no federal or state statute requiring this. This is strictly a QB marketing decision to sell more product. I can see the marketing folks now: "Hey, when they send the invoice, it will show it came from Quickbooks and they'll say, hmmm, I like this, I'm going to go check it out and ultimately buy our product. it's just brilliant! Free advertising for us by unsuspecting paying customers who are using our product." Well, considering this is NOT a free subscription and I pay (dearly) for it, I am NOT inclined to work as a Quickbooks partner in selling their services and products.
It is both unprofessional and arrogant. We are a software development firm who actually develops for ERP systems (with accounting, inventory, order management, etc.) - you know, the advanced competition to Quickbooks. Imagine our company doing work for a client with an ERP system and then sending them an invoice with Quickbooks glaring all over the email (including my "from" email). How incredibly embarrassing.
1. The email should be my own domain, not from "quickbooks...". I don't care what the reason, sending an email from "@quickbooks..." is so completely unprofessional. I'm selling MY brand, not Quickbooks! I want them to see MY domain, not quickbooks...
2. Any and all Intuit and Quickbooks logos, messages, links, etc. should be REMOVED! Again, I want to splash MY brand all over the email, NOT Quickbooks'. Another truly unprofessional and unnecessary insertion put in there strictly to sell more product against your paying customer's wishes.
3. If you want to sell more products and keep the logos and what-not, then offer a discount or commission to the account if they will do it for you (and not add more money to remove them). We should get paid to advertise for you, not be held hostage for a product we have to pay for!
As of now, we just print our invoices and manually email them. We don't take advantage of the Pay online features nor the unique communication between invoices and the back-end system because we just cannot send something with "Quickbooks" splashed all over it. It's so counter to our own brand and business. QB not addressing this will cause us to move on to another product. I'm tired of uninformed marketing folks who have never run their own business making decisions on how MY business should be branded and run. We are not co-marketing when we send an invoice. We are marketing for ourselves, PERIOD. This is 2020 (two years removed from this post of the insincere "we hear and appreciate your feedback"), and the web tools are far sophisticated enough that customizing everything on an invoice and email should be a no-brainer, yet Intuit remains behind the times. Stop the non-sense and listen to your customers.
