New to accounting

Hello, I thought I would introduce myself and my businesses. I own and part own two business. A machine shop and a online sales for parts I make.  I really need to get deeper into the accounting part.

The machine shop side is simple. I  issue an invoice and when I receive a payment I mark it payment received. The online sales is where I need help.

1. Each day I have sales on 3 different sites. Do I put each sale into quickbooks or do I just enter the daily totals? And how do I enter it?

2. I tried to setup a bar code scanner but it didn't work I have Quickbooks pro 2013. My accountant at the time set it up. It says I can. But I can't. I know I need to upgrade. But I can't at this time.

You may register every transaction as a sales receipt. If you don't have time to register it one by one, you may prepare it in XLS then utilize a 3rd party tool to import them in bulk.

2. I tried to setup a bar code scanner but it didn't work I have Quickbooks pro 2005. My accountant at the time set it up. It says I can. But I can't. I know I need to upgrade. But I can't at this time.

Barcoding feature is only available in Enterprise edition. You may need an inventory management app to integrate with Pro or Premier edition.

Thank you, I guess the part I get confused about. We don't receive payments one by one. They are paid once a night.  We also do whole bulk orders and we enter that as it happens because we don't use a 3rd party. i.e. ebay. We deal direct. So if I entered each transaction into quickbooks the invoices would soon be a large number. Can we open a 2nd company for the online sales?

I made one mistake, my wife upgraded the quickbooks to 2013 pro. I understood int he book it had bar code ability.

Thank you for your help.
