Join nowWe use Connect to Paypal. When the app creates a sales receipt, the Shipping Address is missing the State.
For example:
Paypal Shipping Address
John Doe
555 12th St
Denver, CO 80201
United States
QBO Sales Receipt Shipping to
555 12th St Denver US 80201
Hi there, TCC.
Thanks for stopping by the Community, it sounds like you may need to edit the PayPal settings directly within the QuickBooks product. I'm happy to show you how:
I'm also including a helpful article that highlights the connect to PayPal tool and has lots of useful information. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post here anytime. Thank you and have a nice evening.
Allow me to jump in on this thread, @Anonymous.
If the sales receipts are imported through the Banking page, the shipping address will not sync. You'll want to manually add the address in QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Also, you may want to consider checking a guide on how to review and categorize your downloaded transactions in QuickBooks.
We're always here to help, TCC. Drop a comment below if you have other QuickBooks concerns.
Thanks, @CharleneMaeF
However, the shipping address is sent through the integration. There isn't a customer record created, but the address is there. It looks to me like the country is mapped where the state should be.
Here's an example attached.
Thank you for the screenshot you've provided, TCC.
Allow me to step in and share information about the shipping address. QuickBooks will depend on the information with what the integration send to the system. Though I've replicated in my end once you've entered the customer name, it will automatically pop up the customer information on what you've set up.
Let's perform browser troubleshooting steps to isolate this case, If this is web related issue. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses. We can start by accessing your account in a private browser. This mode doesn't save your searches, visited pages, log in details, and cookies.
You can use the shortcut keys that I've listed below.
If it works, I suggest proceeding with clearing the cache. There are times too much data can accumulate over time and cause issues when utilizing QuickBooks. However, if the issue continues, try using other supported browsers. It could be that the one you're currently working on has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

I'm sorry, but that is not the problem at all.
The sales receipt in my example is created by the Connect to Paypal app, and the shipping address on it is populated by that app. The problem is in how that app is creating the sales receipt.
This entire issue is related to how the Connect to Paypal app creates sales receipts, not in how an individual user creates one.
Thank you for clarifying the issue, TCC. Since you're using a third-party app that integrates with QuickBooks, I suggest reaching out to the app provider to double-check the underlying issue you've experienced.

I've asked on the developer site.
However, it's a bit confusing since the app is by Intuit and QBO is also Intuit.
Hi there, @Anonymous.
In QuickBooks, there are two types of connection in PayPal. First, is in the app.intuit.com, and the second is in the Banking in QuickBooks. If you're using PayPal in the Banking, there will be limited information imported in your QuickBooks Online account.
You can read these articles for more detailed information about connecting PayPal in your QuickBooks Online account:
However, you can enter a shipping address on your customer. It will automatically generate the customer's address to the sales receipt. Please follow these steps on how:

We are using the app. The app creates the sales receipt with a shipping address on it. That address is missing the state.
I've said this a few times.
Hello there, @ TCC.
Thank you for allowing me to help with your Paypal transactions. Let me share some insights about creating Sales Receipts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Let's check the information added on the customer profile and/or modify your sales receipt template. Let me show you how.
Here's how you can verify and edit the sales receipt template:
For the guide in customizing the template, you can use this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.
Then, make sure to use the edited template when printing and/or sending the sales receipts.

You guys need to read the thread. It's like I'm talking to a chatbot.
Hello there, @Anonymous.
At this time, there's no option to view the shipping address in the state. Since you're using the app, QuickBooks will depend on the information with what the integration sends to the system.
We have a different Community for app developers that can answer and provide you with the resolutions you need. I'd suggest you visit this link: Intuit Developer Community to get help specific to QuickBooks Online API concerns.
Do you have other questions in mind? Feel free to leave them below and I'll make sure to get back to you.
I have posted to the intuit developer community. But that's for non-intuit developers who use teh Intuit API.
CONNECT TO PAYPAL IS AN INTUIT APP.
Where can a user of that app get help from it's developer: INTUIT
You're correct, TCC.
The Paypal is an Intuit application. That being said, I'd recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team. An agent can do a screen-share with you and check to see why the state is missing in the shipping address.
Here's how you to contact us:

I have discovered the same issue. Sales receipt generated by Paypal banking doesn't sync the state from the shipping address on Paypal. This seems like a API issue, you guys should fix this ASAP. The only way to fix it, is by manually going to each sales receipt and correct the address.
Also, the support given in this thread is just awful, seems like you guys can't read a simple message.
This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience, TRADINNOVATIONS .
I appreciate you performing the workaround to be able to correct the address in each sales receipt.
I'd like to ask if what PayPal connection method you're using. It will help us determine what steps to provide to resolve it
Our program relies on the information shared by PayPal. It depends on how you connect the business account to QBO.
Visit this article to learn more about the differences to handle the imported transactions for each method: Three Ways Of PayPal Connection. Go to the Sales transaction in each method.
Visit this article, in case, you want to reconcile an account. To ensure that your bank statement matches your QBO account: Reconcile An Account.
Please feel more than welcome to reply here if you have any other questions. Have a wonderful day!
The PayPal connection is 1st party solution by you. The one shown here,
It is connected through your 1st party solution, pretty much the default Paypal connection, same as the OP, just read the thread to understand. Below is a screenshot for your understanding.
Thanks for sharing your insights with the community, @TRADINNOVATIONS,
Joining the thread to share some more insights about the Paypal connection in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Connect to Paypal is a tool developed by Intuit to bring your PayPal transactions into QuickBooks. Regarding any missing information when these entries are imported, it can be caused by certain scenarios.
Our system uses details available from PayPal to decide what category or details to assign to each transaction. The level of detail we are able to retrieve often depends on how PayPal has been used in each context. For example, how much detail a customer entered as they paid an invoice or how much detail a shopping card passed to PayPal.
If this is not the case, we recommend that you report this directly to our Support Team. This way our agents can report this to our engineers and they can look into this.
Here's how to contact us:
To ensure we address your concern on time, check out our support hours.
Also, if you need help with API questions for QuickBooks apps, we have a separate forum called Intuit Developers. There you can find and connect with brilliant developers who are experts with tools integrations. To interact with our developers: Intuit Developer Support
Kindly post here again if you have other questions or concerns about Connect to Paypal or anything else. I'll be right here to help you. Have a nice day!
We are using Intuit's Connect to PayPal. The reason I posted here is that when I contacted Intuit support, I was told to post here, because they couldn't help.
